About the listings

How we check

Where every event, tasting, price and medal on this site comes from, and what we never fill in.

Where it comes from

Events, tastings, tours, prices and hours come from each winery's own website, its own email newsletter and its own Instagram. Listings on Wine Country Ontario are a lead only: they are checked by hand before anything appears.

Medals come from each competition's own published results, and every medal links to the winery that won it.

How often

Every day. Winery websites are read overnight, newsletters and Instagram every morning, and opening hours are re-read and compared with each winery's Google listing. When a page changes, the change is picked up the next night.

What we never fill in

A start time is shown only when the winery publishes one. Otherwise the event shows the day, with a link to the winery's page for the details.

Walk-ins are marked welcome only when the winery says so on its own website, or has confirmed it to us. A tasting with nothing stated says so.

Prices, lengths and booking rules are as the winery lists them. They change, so each listing links to the winery's own page to confirm.

What we leave out, and what stays

Members-only events are not listed: they are not open to the people reading this.

A cancelled or postponed event stays where it was, struck through and marked, so nobody plans around it, and it is never counted.

A wine trail is listed under every winery taking part, with one page for the whole trail.

Independent and free

The site is free to use, and free for every winery to be listed. Any paid placement is labelled as one, and paying never changes a fact: the dates, prices, hours and medals are the same for everyone.

We don't copy wineries' photos.

Something wrong?

Tell us on the contact page and we'll check it against the winery's own page and fix it.
